What is Osu?

Osu is a unique payment and customer management solution for self-employed and small businesses.

Our app and web platform enables these businesses to sign-up and onboard within minutes, and easily create and send secure payment requests to their customers.

Customers then open a link to complete the payment in just 3-clicks. The business receives the money instantly and directly to their bank account.

On top of our core payments solution, the Osu include a set of features aimed at making life easier for businesses – a laser-focused CRM, automated reminders and more.

What is a payment request?

When a self-employed or small business sends a bill to their customer, they do so by sending an Osu payment request.

To create and send a payment request a business inputs just 3 pieces of information:

  • The customer’s name
  • The customer’s mobile phone number or email address
  • The customer’s bill amount

When the customer opens the request, they click a link to finalize the payment. And once it’s paid the business receives an instant notification.

What countries can I use Osu in?

Osu is currently live in the UK, allowing UK self-employed and small businesses to collect payments from customers in the UK.

We are actively exploring expansion into Europe with plans to launch in France, Germany, Spain and Italy in early 2021.

How much does it cost?

We have three plans depending on the size of your business.

  1. Our forever free plan gives you 5 payment requests per month along with inbuilt customer management and automated reminders.
  2. Our standard plan gives you 50 payment requests per month along our core features plus custom message templates, the removal of Osu ads, and future dated requests.
  3. Our pro plan gives you 200 payment requests per month along with all the standard features plus additional users, professional invoicing and customer self-onboarding.

Of course, for businesses with more than 200 monthly payments or interesting in connecting via API, contact us to build a tailored plan.

We are continuously developing new features and expanding the Osu platform so that self-employed and small businesses can focus on doing what they love.

How can I get in touch?

Reach out to us using the contact form at the bottom of our landing page. We’re excited about building a payment solution for self-employed and small businesses and would love to hear from you.

How does it work?

Osu leverages Open Banking APIs to connect businesses and customers for secure and instant account-to-account payments.

It means customers can authenticate and confirm payments directly with their own bank, without exposing any sensitive information to any third party – Osu included. What’s more by automatically connecting the payment information to the bank itself, there’s no risk of typing in incorrect account numbers or amounts – just 100% accuracy.

For businesses it means truly instant settlement, the near total elimination of fraud and chargebacks, and fees as low as 10p per payment.

What banks can customers pay from?

Osu cover more than 95% of UK personal accounts. In other words, 95% of UK customers can pay you when you send them an Osu payment request. We are adding more banks and aim to get to 99% coverage by the end of 2020.

Why is Osu good for self-employed and small businesses?

If you’re a self-employed or small business, Osu allows you to sign up and get approved in under 2 minutes. From there you can create and send secure payment requests in less than 30 seconds. What’s more, when your customer’s pay, you get the money instantly and directly into your bank account with an immediate notification.

With an inbuilt laser-focused CRM, you can see your customer’s details, payments history, outstanding balance and send reminders. In short, Osu was designed with self-employed and small businesses in mind – we make managing customers and getting paid quick and easy, so that you can focus on doing what you love.

Finally, unlike other payment methods, we don’t charge complicated and expensive fees. Instead, you pay a low fixed monthly amount and with that get a bulk of payment requests along with set of powerful business management features. For those that want to crunch the numbers… it works out as low as 10p per transaction. Simply unbeatable.

Why is Osu good for customers?

After receiving an Osu payment request there is no easier or safer way for customers to pay. It takes just 3 clicks:

  1. Select the bank where they hold an account
  2. Authenticate themselves biometrically
  3. Review and confirm the payment

And because Osu provides the account details and amount, they don’t need to waste time manually entering data or worry about making a mistake along the way.

What makes it safe, is that payment is authenticated and made directly within the customer’s own bank – meaning bank-grade security.

What makes Osu safe?

Your data is always protected by our first-class security protocols. We use the latest security technology - it's a fundamental pillar on which we have designed and built the Osu platform. What's more, when a customer pays an Osu payment request, they authenticate themselves and then confirm the payment directly with their own bank. It means customers enjoy bank-level security from the moment they begin the payment.
